Mandelson released on bail after arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office , February 23rd 

- The former labour minister was questioned by police over accusations be passed sensitive information to Jeffrey Epstein

- This is an example of hard news as its focusing on political offences linking to the Guardian focusing on hard news, this focuses on the Guardians left wing stance and also focusing on hard news and not focusing on Britain 

- This attracts the audience through being relative to news through the Epstein cases recently, creating a big headline to grab the readers attention

Daily mail news story

Terrified tourists have described the horror of trying to escape Mexico after the country erupted in a wave of violence following the killing of its most notorious drug kingpin, February 24th

- The Mexican cartel leader was killed by the US sparking fury through the cartel creating violence in Mexico and tourists trying to flee the country 

- This is an example of hard news due to it talking about violence in other countries not linking to the idea of daily mail being a tabloid however could link to it being a mid market tabloid, this does not necessarily link to the daily mails ideologies as this doesn't focus on UK news

- This may attract the audience through relating to being tourists in Mexico and how violent the country currently is, however some of the audience may not be interested due to wanting to see soft news

  1) What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the RBK 50 Cent advert?   Preferred is that people that wear reebok are hardworking and can get through anything, negotiated reading is that it represents people that came through poor areas and hard upbringings, oppositional is it represents crime. 2)  What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the advert of your own choice that you analysed for last week's work?  Preferred Reading: The preferred reading of Nike might highlight the brand's association with athletic excellence, innovation, and empowerment. Reading an image - media codes blog tasks

  1) Analyse this RBK 50 Cent advert using the media codes you learned in the lesson:  Technical, Written or verbal, Symbolic or non-verbal, Narrative. Write a paragraph for each one exploring the way meanings are created using those media codes . -finger print image shows connotations of arrest and crime and 50 cents criminal background, this is very unusual for a brand to highlight this but they maybe want to attract a younger audience that feel like wearing reebok makes them powerful and hard-working. -the verbal code : I am what I am suggests that 50 cent doesn't hide his criminal background and that he grew up in gangs and violence which can imply to the audience that no matter what you have been through u can still become powerful and rich like 50 cent. -the font/typographic font suggests medieval and powerful as if u wear reebok it shows a sense of power and hard-working which makes audiences want to wear it. -the military hat suggests battle, warzone and upbringin...
