  Reflect on your work in A Level Media so far WWW: Your blog is very nearly 100% up-to-date – the two unfinished pieces (coloured amber on the tracker) should be pretty easy to put right. I really like a lot of your answers on the blog so far – I think you’ve made a good start in Media and show an understanding of the concepts so far. I agree that Media fits well alongside Business and if Breaking Bad is your favourite show then hopefully this is a subject that will treat you well. I also like the fact you’re aiming for an apprenticeship – this is a massive growth area and there will hopefully be some good options when you start applying in Year 13.   EBI: Two areas to improve: firstly, complete the two unfinished pieces of work.   1) What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the RBK 50 Cent advert?   Preferred is that people that wear reebok are hardworking and can get through anything, negotiated reading is that it represents people that came through poor areas and hard upbringings, oppositional is it represents crime. 2)  What are the preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings for the advert of your own choice that you analysed for last week's work?  Preferred Reading: The preferred reading of Nike might highlight the brand's association with athletic excellence, innovation, and empowerment. It suggests that Nike promotes a healthy lifestyle and inspires individuals to achieve their personal best through sports and fitness. Negotiated Reading: A negotiated reading could recognize the positive aspects of Nike while also acknowledging criticisms, such as labor practices and environmental concerns.   Ofcom review of PSB in Britain 1) Look at page 3. Why is it a critical time for public service broadcasting?  Audience viewing habits continue to change rapidly and competition from global content providers is ever-increasing. 2) Read page 4. How has TV viewing changed in recent years?  The growth of well-funded on-demand services and the rapid take-up of connected devices have increased our choice in what we watch, as well as how and when we watch it.
